Gorgeous grey Bois D’Argent joined the Group 1 club with a stunning all the way win in the $1m Doomben Cup (2000m) at Doomben. Being ridden for the first time by champion rider Blake Shinn, Bois D’Argent rolled straight to the front controlling the race from the onset. At his fourth attempt at Group 1 level, Bois D’Argent staved off his challengers to win narrowly from the Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott preprared New Endeavour, with stablemate Faulkner Park in third place. Bois D’Argent has now banked almost AUD $1.2m for his ownership group since arriving in Australia in November 2022, with 2 wins and 7 placings down under from 12 starts. His first Australian win came 12 months ago at Listed level in the Lord Mayors Cup at Rosehill. A remarkably consistent performer, Bois D’Argent was fourth in last years Caulfield Cup, whilst he has accumulated ‘Cups placings’ at Rosehill, Randwick, Gosford, Caloundra and Wyong. Prepared by Annabel Neasham, Bois D’Argent was acquired in a private purchase by OnTrack principal Grant Morgan and Stuart Boman of UK firm Blandford Bloodstock. Previously prepared in Chantilly by Francis Graffard, Bois D’Argent raced on 12 occasions in France for 4 wins and 8 placings, before moving to Australia, initially under the care of Newmarket trainer Marco Botti.
