The Ontrack Racing and Edmonds Racing partnership kicked off in fine style when Impregnable raced up to his Victorian form with an emphatic win at Grafton on Monday.
Impregnable came north after six starts from Mick Price’s Caufield stable for four seconds and a third so his form meant he was going to be competitive in his new environment.
Trainer Toby Edmonds gave Impregnable one trial to fit him for the northern New South Wales outing and in spite of drawing a tricky number 10 barrier the horses proved too strong.
Rider Jeff Lloyd was suitable impressed and warns there is still improvement in the chunky son of I Am Invincible.
“From the draw I wanted to avoid using him up early and was able to restrain him off the strong early pace and in spite of getting on the wrong leg on the home turn he finished off nicely.
“He is still working things out a little bit and he will improve with the race and looks a nice horse in the making,” said Jeff.
Ontrack CEO Grant Morgan said the Grafton win was the perfect start for Ontrack and Toby Edmonds Racing.
“Toby and I go back a fair way and when I was managing jockeys in Sydney he was starting out as a trainer and we have been friends ever since. When Mick Price suggested Impregnable and Knockoura would be better suited to the South East Queensland racing, it gave Ontrack the perfect opportunity to start racing horses from Toby’s Gold Coast base.
“Impregnable was our first runner for Toby and it was great to kick off with a win. We were a bit unlucky not to snare a double as Dream Master had his first run for Toby after coming north from Chris Waller’s Sydney operation and he was unlucky not to finish closer than fourth.
“Toby runs a great operation and the combination with Jeff Lloyd is invaluable when it comes to assessing horses and finding where they fit into the South East Queensland-Northern Rivers racing scene.
“We will have Impregnable, Dream Master and Knockoura racing from the stable in the weeks ahead and it’s easy to see them adding to the great start we’ve made with Toby and Trent Edmonds,” said Grant Morgan.
