DUNDEEL has quickly established himself as a high class sire of middle distance performers.
From only 4 crops to race, DUNDEEL has already produced two brilliant Guineas winning colts in CASTELVECCHIO and SUPER SETH.
Subsequently worth tens of millions as stallion prospects, both CASTELVECCHIO and SUPER SETH now stand leading farms in Australasia, Arrowfield Stud (alongside DUNDEEL) and Waikato Stud.
This is a quick and significant vote of confidence in DUNDEEL.
DUNDEEL is very much a refined, athletic stallion. He stands at 15.3 hands, the same size as CASTELVECCHIO. Whilst he received reasonable support in terms of quality in his formative years at stud, the strength of mares he has received subsequently has gone to another level. I expect his stocks to rise significantly in the years.
DUNDEEL is earning a strong reputation as a sire of colts. He has produced 62 individual colts/geldings to win from 114 starters. 12 of those individual winners are stakes winners.
If you buy a DUNDEEL colt, you have a mighty good chance of owning a stakeswinner.
The most important thing to know about LEAD HUSSON is that she has produced an outstanding type in this colt by DUNDEEL.
“You can train an athlete, but not a pedigree page”. That’s a well worn phrase to keep in mind with this colt.
I think we can get too hung up on pedigree pages.
If we all had unlimited budgets, it would be far easier to buy yearlings. But we don’t.
You have to give away some ground in some areas to buy a yearling. One thing I will never give away is type. I simply must buy a ‘type’. I fall in love with the horse first and learn to love aspects of the pedigree later. Never the other way around.
The key factor with LEAD HUSSON is that this colt is just her first foal.
And he is an outstanding first foal. He is without question a great ‘type’.
Should LEAD HUSSON make it as a broodmare, this colt will be an outstanding litmus test.
I’m more than happy to be part of the experiment, and so should you.
