Consistent galloper Harada Bay added black type to his resume when a narrow second in the Listed $150,000 Sale Cup (1600m).
The John, Dan & Chris Meagher prepared gelding has been runner up at his only two Victorian starts now after a first up second at Moonee Valley. Steven King continued a long term association with the Meagher stable by partnering Harada Bay to Short Head Second behind Evangelist. Harada Bay is now likely to have one more run in Victoria before returning to Queensland for a tilt at a race on the rich $10m Magic Millions Raceday on the Gold Coast in January. The likely target for his next start will be on Emirates Stakes Day in a $100k BM96 (1600m). Harada Bay was an $80,000 yearling buy for Ontrack Thoroughbreds at the 2011 Magic Millions Premier Yearling Sale. The son of Haradasun has now returned connections over $353,000 with 6 wins and 15 placings from 38 starts. Congratulations to owners Danny Lesjak, Rob Bennett, Denis & Colleen Walker, Jeff Allen, Kingsley Peach, Mark Snowden, Karen & Michael Sparkes, J Carr & W Robinson Synd, Des Andrews and Tye Wagstaff. Progressive filly Invincible Heart took another step towards black type with her first City win at Caulfield.
After being sent back to the trials following an uncustomary bucking display at Morphetville last start when third, Invincible Heart atoned for that defeat at her home track debut. Prepared by leading Caulfield trainer Mick Price, Invincible Heart overcome a stiff headwind down the side to lead all the way over the 1200m under stable jockey Craig Newitt. The Caulfield win takes Invincible Heart's record to 2 wins and 2 placings from just 4 starts. A second crop daughter of I Am Invincible, Invincible Heart now heads to the $150,000 Group 3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on 10 October. She will then be freshened for a tilt at the $200,000 Group 3 Gucci Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on Oaks Day 5 November. Like the year older Brazen Beau, Invincible Heart was selected and purchased by Grant Morgan of Ontrack Thoroughbreds from the Inglis Classic Sale. She was $56,000 purchase from the draft of Edinglassie Stud. Congratulations to owners David Moretti, Jim & Di McDonald, John Heming, Mick Hackett, Russell & Jacqui Pawley, Mark Ostermeyer, Maps Synd (Manager: Andrew Tranter), Invincible Five Synd (Manager: Greg Bowers), Lisa Saxton, Andrew Richmond, David Conley, Kaz Morphett, Gary Batchelder, Obes Nobodies (Manager: Gavin O’Brien), Jeremy Van Dort, Louis Van Eyssen & Warren Wruck. |
