The David Vandyke prepared Easy Love earned herself a tilt at the Queensland Winter Carnival with an impressive victory at her home course. Easy Love ventured back to the Sunshine Coast on raceday for the first time since finishing an eye catching fifth in the Group 3 Winx Guineas (1600m) in July. The win as a masterful training feet by Vandyke, with a gap of 32 days between runs and staying at the 1800m journey. “If there is a better trainer of a middle distance horse in Queensland, I’m yet to see them,” said OnTrack CEO Grant Morgan. “David is such a wonderful horseman overall, but I do feel he is at his very best with middle distance females like Easy Love.” “His Group 1 winners Yankee Rose and Gypsy Goddess clearly demonstrate that he has no peer in Queensland.” Easy Love was well ridden by Jag Guthmann-Chester who sent the $2.10 straight to the front, the first time she has lead in her previous 7 starts. Easy Love has now had 2 wins and 3 placings from 8 starts. Easy Love was purchased jointly by trainer David Vandyke and Grant Morgan of OnTrack Thoroughbreds form the 2023 Magic Millions QTIS Yearling Sale. Top priced lot at the sale, Easy Love fetched $140,000 from the draft of Lucas Bloodstock at Croftby, Queensland. Easy Love already has two siblings with black type in the stakes placed duo of Grey Defence (5 wins) and Defence Missile (5 wins).
