Ontrack’s partnership with Brisbane’s champion trainer Tony Gollan was formally launched at a function held at the Fiction Bar in beautiful Raby Harbour. Around 70 existing and new Ontrack clients enjoyed the evening which was hosted by Ontrack and Sportsbet to mark the new partnership with Gollan Racing at Eagle Farm. “Ontrack is sending two horses to Tony and we wanted to acknowledge the new arrangement to a group of existing owners as well as new clients,” said Ontrack’s Grant Morgan. Gollan has been allocated a Foxwedge Filly and Real Impact colt in the initial batch of horses from Ontrack. “The Foxwedge filly is half sister to Tony's very good sprinter I'm A Rippa. So it made perfect sense for to send her to him." The function was used to launch the public marketing for the Real Impact colt who is out of a More Than Ready mare.
"He's a real eye catcher. I think there is an awful lot of More Than Ready about him.But I like the strength and toughness coming from the Japanese horse Real Impact." "So many shuttle stallions aren't tested in Australia. Real Impact raced twice in Australia at Group 1 level. He won the Gr 1 George Ryder defeating Criterion and Kermadec. He was then a brave second in the Gr 1 Doncaster on a wet track which didn't suit." The night was staged at Fiction Bar and Restaurant at Raby Bay, which is part owned by long term Ontrack supporter Jamie Haimes who shared in the ownership of Savanna Amour. The evening was MC'd by the former voice of Brisbane racing, Alan Thomas and was co-sponsored by Sportsbet. Ontrack’s enigmatic sprinter Dream Master returned to the track in sensational fashion with a commanding win at Doomben. The good looking son of Dream Ahead had to undergo two barrier trials to gain a clearance to race again following an incident when he bucked and dislodged apprentice Jackson Murphy at the Gold Coast last month. Dream Master passed the barrier trials test with flying colours and returned to racing in a Class Five Handicap at Doomben. “I must admit to being extremely nervous before the race,” said a very relieved Ontrack Thoroughbreds Managing Director Grant Morgan after the horse led all the way to win by nearly five lengths. “Another bucking incident might have seen the horse banned permanently, but most importantly was the welfare of his jockey. “Thankfully, Dream Master never put a foot wrong and he simply ran his four rivals into the ground in what was a pretty sustained exhibition of controlled speed. “Rider Michael Cahill did some pretty extensive homework into the horse pre-race and he produced a fantastic ride. “Michael has great hands and balance and the horse seemed to respond to his kind riding style. “It’s probably the best he has travelled in a race and Michael was able to get the best out of the horse without even looking like drawing the whip. “Toby and Trent Edmonds have done a great job to get the horse back in winning form and they made a couple of gear changes which were a calculated gamble but have obviously been instrumental in the horse returning to racing in such a dominant fashion,” said Grant Morgan. Successful rider Michael Cahill was impressed with Dream Master’s win. “He jumped away nicely and travelled perfectly and was pretty dominant in the end. “He’s a lovely horse to ride and there’s more in store,” said Michael Cahill. Purchased by Grant Morgan from Emirate Parks draft at the 2015 Inglis Classic Sale for $60,000, Dream Master is a son of Dream Ahead and the Exceed and Excel mare Excellent Lady. Not long after the sale, Excellent Lady’s first foal Petits Filou, she went on to win her first four races, including the Group 3 Quezette Stakes at Flemington. He’s now won six of his 21 starts since being moved from Sydney to Edmonds Racing on the Gold Coast. He’s also had 10 top four placings to take his earnings to $142,740. Ontrack Thoroughbreds’ promising mare Arctic Shock returned to winning form with an impressive victory at Mornington. The daughter of Melbourne Cup winner Shocking snared her second win from only 9 career starts when she overcame a three wide passage from an outside barrier to score convincingly in a Benchmark 64 Handicap. “She’s a very promising mare and it was great to see her return to winning form at only her second start in a new preparation,” said Ontrack’s Managing Director Grant Morgan. “The mare resumed with a good second at Bendigo and took good improvement into the Mornington race and she had to overcome a few obstacles, including a sticky draw. “Arctic Shock always promised plenty during her trials and preparations with young Jacob McKay in New Zealand and she lived up to that in her first preparation. “She was a winner and placed four times from seven starts and one of those placings was a third in the Group Three Alexandra Stakes behind subsequent Group One winner Princess Jenni at Moonee Valley. “The plan now is to find a suitable Group race for her over the spring and work out a plan to get to that race. “We always thought she would make good improvement from her first preparation and it’s always a relief to see a horse make that progress,” said Grant Morgan. A four-year-old mare by Shocking from the Group Three winner Art Beat, Arctic Shock is prepared on the Mornington track by John and Chris Meagher. She was purchased by Grant Morgan for $65,000 from the 2017 Premier Sale at Karaka. Successful rider Ben Melham was pleased with the Mornington win. “There was no prospect of getting in from that wide draw so I had to try and conserve as much energy as possible. It was a slowly run race and I had to use a few carrots getting her close to the pace turning for home so she did well to tough it out. “There are bigger races in store for her and I think she will also improve when we put head gear back on her, but she’s a nice mare,” said Ben Melham.
