Smart Savabeel filly Cruising Speed extended her record to 3 wins from 5 starts with a comprehensive win at Doomben.
Prepared by the inform John and Chris Meagher, Cruising Speed made it back to back wins after scoring at Eagle Farm at her second run from a spell.
James Orman put in a polished display to overcome an awkward draw to have Cruising Speed well placed before showing a good turn of foot in the straight.
Cruising Speed was bred by famed New Zealand nursery Waikato Stud from the O’Reilly mare Vanilla Sky. She was secured by Ontrack Thoroughbreds Grant Morgan at the 2014 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka for $80,000.
“This filly is really putting it all together and she looks to have a very good future. Its nice that she shows so much sharpness at this stage as we feel she will get 1600m-2000m with more maturity on her side,” said Ontrack Thoroughbreds Grant Morgan.
“We will probably step her up to 1600m soon then give her break before heading towards a suitable Listed race next prep.”
“She is a lovely filly with a big pedigree, so we will definitely be chasing black type with her.”
Congratulations to Cruising Speed’s owners Stephen Hurford, Lynne Smith, Ken Gordon, Rose Rovelli, Karl Vanderberg, The Let It Ride Syndicate, Jenny Pixley, Marilyn Searles, Bernie Warnick, Woongarra, Judy Bandidt, Dom Bassi, Professor Jim Dale, Brett Grogan, Gordon Henry and Haimes Racing.
