On The Bubbles impresses in New Zealand
Smart two year-old On The Bubbles has delivered a Group 1 win for his sire Brazen Beau.
On The Bubbles captured the time honoured Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) run at Awapuni.
The Sires Produce has been long regarded as New Zealand’s best two year-old race.
First run in 1908, previous winners of the race include champion record breaking gallopers Melody Belle, La Mer, Daryl’s Joy and Desert Gold.
The win took his career earnings to over $707,000 with 4 wins 2 seconds from 6 starts.
The victory adds to his claim of being the top two year-old in New Zealand this year after earlier capturing the prestigious Karaka Millions (1200m) at Ellerslie.
On The Bubbles is a gelded son of Brazen Beau from the Sebring mare More Bubbles.
A first foal for the mare, On The Bubbles was bred in Victoria by Cathy Hain’s’ Burnewang Pastoral. The family has a long history of breeding and racing group 1 winners, headed by the famed ‘Kingston’ family led by the great Kingston Town.
On The Bubbles was initially sold as a weanling for $60,000 at the 2019 Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale to New Zealand Bloodstock agent Bevan Smith as a pinhook prospect.
He was then resold at the 2020 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka for $90,000 to David Ellis.
Owned by a large group of owners on both sides of the Tasman, among the ownership groups to own an interest in On The Bubbles is a syndicate headed by former Melbourne Racecaller Bryan Martin.
Included in the Martin syndicate are OnTrack clients Vin & Colleen Harink and John Loftus, who both also share in our promising Brazen Beau mare, Brazen Gem.
