Top Kiwi stallion Tavistock had plenty of success last week with seven winners, including a feature trifecta in New Zealand.
Tavistock stands at the famed Cambridge Stud and has proved a sensational success after being purchased out of racing by breeding legend Sir Patrick Hogan.
His horses had extraordinary success last week with winners all over Australia and New Zealand, but his best result came in the feature sprint at Ruakaka on Saturday when he sired the first three placegetters.
“Tavistock has done a fantastic job at stud and after low numbers from his first two crops he has developed into one of the best stallions in Australasia,” said Ontrack Thoroughbreds Managing Director Grant Morgan.
“We bought two yearlings by Tavistock at the 2017 Karaka Premier Sale after having the stallion on our radar for a couple of years.
“The pair are now two-year-olds and both are in Australia. We bought a colt who is named Tavisan and is currently in his first preparation with Mick Price at Caufield and we also have a filly heading to Bjorn Baker at Warwick Farm.
“The filly was flown over from New Zealand last week and is now in pre-training with Stephen Hill at Kembla Grange.
“Stephen is very positive about the filly and described her as a very balanced filly with a lovely, smooth flowing action.
“Hopefully both these Tavistock youngsters will boost their sire’s statistics in the new season,” said Grant Morgan.
